Battle of the Stampers: Monthly Stamp Off

Fellow stamper Ri of RiCre8s and I have embarked upon a monthly stamp off.  We collectively choose a stamp set we both have and then each let our creative juices flow!  We are not sharing our ideas with each other, and may not see the other's creation until this blog is published!  It is fun to work in collaborative efforts with others, and this crafty adventure with Ri will be fun!  

This month we decided to use Mama Elephant's Lunar Animals set.  We stipulated to only use character images from this set.  Other stamp elements could be used from any other Mama Elephant stamps we have in our craft stash.  

I colored a few of the images--bunny, dragon, snake, monkey, and pig.  Since Ri owns a sweet bunny, Casper, I thought it befitting to use the bunny.  I have wanted to play with the sun burst stamp from the My Sunshine set since I purchased it.  And, being new to foiling, I thought foiling the stamped image would be tons of fun!

So I painted Deco Gel onto the stamp and stamped the image.  I knew that the stamped image would not be as clean as an ink stamped image, but I was fine with that.  Upon drying, I laid a piece of rainbow foil over my dried gel and laminated the card.  I LOVE how the sun rays turned out!!  

I selected sentiments from Sunday Sentiments, stamping the larger script "hello friend" on a strip of white cardstock.  The smaller sentiment was stamped directly to the card front.  I used VersaFine Onyx Black Ink for both sentiments.  I chose to adhere the sentiment strip flat to the card front and add baker's twine from Doodlebug Designs above and below the smaller sentiment.  The front panel was attached the card base with foam tape and the bunny was mounted in the center of the sun burst with foam tape, holding a heart.  My final detail was the addition of Glossy Accents to the heart.
