Avast, me hearties!!

When I saw that Neat & Tangled was hosting a Party Ensemble Challenge Throwdown, I had to participate!  I love to think off the card with my stamps, and this was the perfect opportunity to play!

Those that know me well are familiar with the fact I like to party in style!  Or rather, I like to throw my daughters' parties in style.  My eldest has chosen pirates as her theme this year, so naturally I selected Neat & Tangled's Yo Ho Ho set for this challenge.  Besides, those coming to her party may recognized some of this decor later.  :)

I stamped out all of the images from the set except the parrot.  I intended to add him in later, but, alas, that did not happen.  I colored a LOT, and kept the color palette simple--black, red, and khaki.  The pops of golden yellow were enough to keep some variation and fun.  These are pirates after all.  :)

After finishing all of the coloring with my Copic markers, I die cut them all out with the coordinating dies.  Then, it was party assembly time!!  I wanted to utilize other Neat & Tangled products and selected their Making Waves die.  I will be using the wave scene to complete a card for my daughter, but for this project I simply used the background stitched circle die as my Goldfish bag topper.  It was a perfect fit!  

I blended some Black Soot Distress Ink onto the circles and stamped "ARRR" onto the rounds with VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  I scored in half and used double-sided tape to adhere to my small zip-top snack bags.  The sweet leaping goldfish from the set was the perfect addition to these snack bags.  

For the goodie bags, I used brown paper sacks adorned with that adorable treasure map stamp and one of the sweet pirates, all held closed with a wee clip holding a distressed tag using the sentiment "you are my greatest treasure".  Filled with treasure and candy, I can't imagine what tiny pirate wouldn't enjoy this take home prize!

Using the top parts of the brown paper treasure sacks, I made these glass wraps!  Since these wee pirates won't be drinking anything too stiff from a brown paper bag, I thought it was a fun play to use brown paper around their glasses.  I stamped "AHOY matey" with the splash droplets using VersaFine Onyx Black ink on the paper and then wrapped around my glass milk bottles.  The adorable, salty pirate pets keep the drinks company during the pirate play.  ;)

And, of course, no party is complete without the cake!  I baked a simple cake, frosted in a cool ocean blue, and topped with our sweet pirate lads and their ship. For the sign, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" using VersaFine onto scrap cardboard and ripped away the sides to give it a more rustic look.  All elements are taped to toothpicks and inserted in the top of the cake.  My daughter LOVED  it, and it took some convincing that her pirate party was still weeks away.  However, she is happy to help make another cake then.
