This year I turn 40 and decided I would create a fun card just for myself. I used the number candles from Layer Cake Sparkles and added EZ Lights from Pear Blossom Press behind the candle numbers, seen below. A hot glue gun and scotch tape helped secure the wires behind this awesome cake.
I die cut the cake from a pair of patterned papers from Echo Park's Alice in Wonderland collection purchased from Piece Craft Love. I die cut the cake layer tops and drippy frosting from ivory cardstock to "ice" the tops of the cake layers. The candle numbers and swirly bits were die cut from gold mirror cardstock.
I stamped the sentiment with Stazon Black Pigment ink onto a folded piece of vellum and attached to the card front. By folding the vellum, I was able to add a bit of glue without it being seen as well as giving the sentiment panel a bit more dimension (vs. gluing flat). The stamp set I used from Creative Expressions's Greetings from Wonderland is sold out, but Piece Craft Love has other Alice themed stamps and sentiments HERE. To complete the card, I added an Alice inspired digital clipart from Etsy. I LOVE it and hope it inspires you to create something that lights up too!
