I colored all images with Spectrum Noir TriBlend alcohol markers, except the potion bottles that were painted with metallic watercolor paints, and inked the backgrounds with Distress Oxide inks. A bit of colored penci was added to the painted bottles for added depth. The green splatter is gloss spray from Dina Wakley, purchased from Piece Craft Love. The tag dies are from i-Crafter and the patterned die behind the witch is from Sizzix.
I used old newspapers for the tags, rosette, and on the potions bottle card. I absolutely love using text for backgrounds.
While both Pegasi are colored similarly, I love how unique they each look with the differences in colors. I was inspired by one of my favorite children's books Not Quite Narwhal by Jessie Sima (affiliate). I highly recommend this book -- gorgeous illustrations and such a sweet story.
Do you prefer the softer pink or the purple?
The background paper was dyed with spent espresso grounds. I loved the idea of coloring the witch's hair firey red-orange with a tangle of curls. I also knew I didn't want a traditional black hat and boots, opting for more organic brown and mossy green.
My final card surprised me. It did not end the way I intended but I absolutely love how it came together. I tore bits from the newspaper to label the potion bottles, selecting the sentiment and stack of books from the witch set, Not Worth the Herbs.
(Shh.. the metallic watercolors are from Tuesday Morning. They are absolutely beautiful and so cheap. Don't discount the beauty of "lesser" art supplies.. you may surprise yourself. Just look at that sheen!)
