I recently purchased this layering flamingo set called Let's Flamingle from SugarPea Designs and have been so eager to finally ink it up. I'm so nervous to use layering sets but this one really was a breeze. I am playing along in the current SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge 69, following the sketch for this month.
I cut a circle from a scrap of paper to use as a mask for my ink blended scene. I used Mermaid Lagoon, Carved Pumpkin, and Abandoned Coral distress oxide inks for the beautiful sky and water. Next, I inked the flamingo using Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, and Black Soot distress oxide inks right over the background. Instead of sentiment strips indicated in the sketch, I opted to just stamp the sentiment right on the card front using Black Soot. For more balance, I added the small hibiscus flower in Worn Lipstick. A white gel pen added wee highlights and I adhered a few silver droplets to finish the card. I love it! Granted, I really love flamingos.
